Q: I have a team of 11 sales repetitions who have all been working for me for the past 5-10 yrs. I know I will be holding regular meetings with them, but I’m trapped on what things to talk about every week. A: Bob, you’re right about the need for holding regular meetings with your sales team. Building steady business growth is definitely a team effort. Getting better can be expected of everyone. Here’s a simple meeting structure that has been a tremendous help to me in the past to effectively motivate and inspire my sales teams. Week in and week out for years I’ve used this structure.
Part I: RECOGNITION Whether you’re having a gathering with 11 people, 50 people or 4 just, it sets a positive firmness and energy to find something to identify in some or all your meeting guests. I’ve even written them up and taped them all around the walls, which always shipped a stronger message than simply my words by itself because they can read it longer than enough time it took me to speak it. While it’s important to look ahead and communicate your vision, I believe it’s in the same way important to look behind and acknowledge how far people have come.
Part III: INSTRUCTION Never undermines the need for ongoing training. I’ve heard from some business owners that they don’t need to train their top sales people because they’ve been doing their jobs for 10 years, and they know very well what they’re doing. That’s like planning on pro soccer players to skip the training camp and send them right into the kickoff game – bad idea! Spend 30-45 min throughout your weekly staff conference to help your people improve one specific skill they use and need to raise perform their careers. Trust me, even for your seasoned sales reps you may never run out of drill-for-skill content.

Part IV: INSPIRATION It certainly is powerful for your visitors to be influenced by the milestones achieved by their own co-workers. Part V: MOTIVATION I always found getting people to perform better to be a 2-step formulation. While education trains their mind, motivation is about their hearts. They need to want to excel.
Even the ones who said they were self-motivated still perform better with a deliberate dosage of motivational words from you, their leader. Inform them why this week differs. What is at stake this month? Why should they care? What’s the perspective you want these to stretch to reach? What’s it all for this quarter?
How can you help your people get out of their comfort zone? What will it take to help them get their game encounters on? Bob, I hope that answers your question and provides you some very specific action steps you can take. P.S. If you are ready to increase your business but don’t quite know the place to start, you’re not alone! Most business owners are great at their business, however, not necessarily great at marketing their businesses. In 1999 the Friends of the High Line was founded and began to renovate the raised railroad. La Farge said that because the mixed group started, they have brought the West Side cowboys to life. ‘One of the things they did was to kind of fixate on this character and it was an extremely smart move to make because he’s really colorful and really interesting and kind of unbelievable, in modern-day Manhattan particularly. The revised edition of Annik La Farge’s guidebook, For the High Line: Exploring America’s Most Original Urban Park, was published in 2014. It’s the first illustrated guide to the High Line.
On a personal level, smart helper technology could turn our mobile devices-already capable of voice response, into interactive learning assistants tasked with helping us navigate our daily lives. Machine learning could uncover new efficiencies in our overstressed and complicated infrastructure systems including energy, logistics, healthcare, IT, and even education. The worthiness that machine learning can deliver will be dependent on the degree to which these systems can deal with structured and unstructured data (which remains a challenge) as well as the availability of useful data and quality algorithms.
